Jonathan is a singer/musician local to Ilderton that you may have seen before at Petrolia’s Victoria Playhouse.
Jonathan Gysbers is a multi disciplinary artist with over a decade of professional experience. He has performed at theatres across Canada, including The Grand Theatre London, Victoria Playhouse Petrolia, Port Hope Festival Theatre, The Guild Charlottetown, Stage West Calgary and Magnus Theatre Thunder Bay. In 2019 he played Bob Gaudio in the inaugural production of Des McAnuff’s Tony award-winning Jersey Boys onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines and in the Canadian Regional Premiere. Most recently he was featured in the Canadian debut of Steve Martin and Eddie Brickell’s folk/bluegrass musical, Bright Star, presented in Toronto with Garner Theatre Productions. As well as performing, Jonathan writes original music and adapts children’s books into musicals for young audiences. His recent adaptation of Kate DiCamillo’s Theatre Miraculous Adventure of Edward Tulane was presented in the 2021 Kingston Fringe Festival and at schools around London, UK.
After spending 2 years abroad, Jonathan is back home sharing his love of 60s/70s folk, Canadiana and storytelling with audiences around Ontario. So far this Fall he has serenaded audiences at farmer markets around Middlesex and Lambton County, Evergreen Brickworks, The Griffin in Bracebridge and Stonepickers Brewing Company in Forest. His set includes music by Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, Don Maclean, Van Morrison, as well as iconic Canadian artists such as Neil Young, Joni Mitchel, Gordon Lightfoot and Leonard Cohen.
